  • Milk gourd 1, ½ kg (long)
  • Solidified whole milk (Khoya/Mawa) 250 gm
  • Coconut 1/2 cup (ground)
  • Cardamoms 8 (small)
  • Pistachios 20 (chopped)
  • Almonds 20 (chopped)
  • Sugar 1, ½ cup
  • Oil 2 tbsp

Cooking Directions

  1. Grate a long milk gourd and steam it till tender.

  2. Crush together cardamoms and 1 tsp sugar.

  3. In a wok, heat oil and sauté the 1 tsp of sugar mix for a minute.

  4. Now add sugar and some water.

  5. When sugar begins to form syrup, add milk gourd mix.

  6. Spread on a platter and make a layer of solidified whole milk, coconut, pistachios and almonds.

  7. Milk gourd Halva is ready to serve.
