Grate a long milk gourd and steam it till tender.
Crush together cardamoms and 1 tsp sugar.
In a wok, heat oil and sauté the 1 tsp of sugar mix for a minute.
Now add sugar and some water.
When sugar begins to form syrup, add milk gourd mix.
Spread on a platter and make a layer of solidified whole milk, coconut, pistachios and almonds.
Milk gourd Halva is ready to serve.
