Chicken Karahi is among favorite meaty dishes of Pakistan. Chef Zubaida Tariq made it in a perfect taste just with simple ingredients. Serve with combination of simple vegetable salad, roti or naan and raita.

Ingredients

  • Chicken 1 kg
  • Crushed Ginger 1 tbsp
  • Crushed Garlic 1 tbsp
  • Crushed Black Pepper ½ tsp
  • Crushed Cumin 1tsp
  • Crushed Dry Coriander 1 tsp
  • Green Cardamom 4 to 5
  • Green Chilies 8 to 10
  • Whole Red Chilies 5 to 6
  • Tomatoes 5 to 6
  • Green Coriander ½ bunch
  • Ghee 4 to 5 tbsp
  • Oil 4 to 5 tbsp

Cooking Directions

  1. In a blender put garlic, ginger, green chilies and 1/4 bunch of green coriander and blend to make a paste.

  2. In a karahi heat oil and ghee; put chicken in it and close the lid.

  3. When the chicken turns white in color add the blended paste in it, mix, and cook.

  4. Add tomatoes, crush whole red chili, cumin, coriander seeds, and green cardamom in the karahi, mix and cook.

  5. When completely cooked, dish it out and garnish it with coriander, ginger, and crushed spice mixture.

  6. Serve with nan.

  6. It's soooo spicy!! you need to add a lot of yogurt to it, otherwise it's too spicy and inedible. Or reduce the number of chili peppers or don't crush the chili peppers.
