If you are the regular host of christmas dinner for family and friends, you may feel that it is time to try some new sweet dish ideas rather than prepare the same dishes you serve every year. Try out this classic christams dessert. Its a stunning centrepiece on any table and disappears in very little time, it takes a little while to prepare but its really worth the effort. You can use whatever fruit, nuts or jelly you prefer.

  • Plain cake ½ pond
  • Glazed red & green cherries ½ cup (finely chopped)
  • Coconut macrons 8 to 10
  • Mix peel 1 tbsp
  • Flaked almonds 2 tbsp
  • Raisins 2 tbsp
  • Currents 2 tbsp
  • Orange slices (for decoration)
  • Fresh cream (for decoration)
  • Ingredients for Custard:
  • Milk 3 cups
  • Cream ½ cup
  • Custard powder 3 tbsp
  • Sugar 6 tbsp

Cooking Directions

  1. Combine custard powder and sugar.

  2. Now gradually add milk.

  3. Then cook over medium flame for 10 minutes till custard thick, remove and cool.

  4. To Assemble Trifle: Crumble plain cake in a large serving bowl.

  5. Spread with orange juice, top with glazed cherries, raison, currents and almonds.

  6. Now pour cool custard over cake and fruits.

  7. Lastly decorated trifle with orange slices, tiny macrons, hundred and thousands and fresh creams then serve.
