Ingredients

  • Large potatoes 6
  • Flour and breadcrumbs 1/2 cup each
  • Peas, boiled and mashed 1 cup
  • Onions, finely chopped 1 cup
  • Almonds, ground to a paste 10
  • Ginger, garlic and green chilli pastes 1 tsp each
  • Pepper 1 tsp
  • Oil 2 tbsp
  • Butter 1 tbsp
  • Oil for deep frying
  • Salt to taste

Cooking Directions

  1. Boil and mash the potatoes.

  2. Add the flour, butter and salt to taste.

  3. Knead into a stiff dough, adding water if required, and keep aside.

  4. Heat the oil and fry the onions.

  5. Add the ginger, garlic and chilli pastes.

  6. Then add the almond paste. Fry lightly.

  7. Add the peas to the above mixture.

  8. Season with the salt and pepper and mix well.

  9. Add the breadcrumbs. Divide the dough into two equal parts and roll out each part into an oblong shape.

  10. Divide the pea mixture into two parts and spread evenly on each oblong.

  11. Roll up each oblong firmly like a Swiss roll.

  12. Seal the edge with water. Cut into ½“ slices.

  13. Fry the slices in hot oil till they turn golden brown in colour and serve hot.
