Ingredients

  • Moong dal 250 gms
  • Coriander seeds 2 tsps
  • Onions (finely chopped) 4
  • Green chillies (finely chopped) 5
  • Coriander leaves ½ bunch
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying
  • For gravy:
  • Onions (chopped finely) 6
  • Grated coconut 1 cup
  • Coriander seeds 1 tbsp
  • Red chillies 5
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil as needed

Cooking Directions

  1. Soak moong dal in water for about 6 hours.

  2. Then grind it to a fine paste with the coriander seeds,

  3. cut onions, green chillies and salt.

  4. Steam cook the batter and when it is cooked, remove and cool.

  5. Cut into cubes.Fry the chopped onions, coconut,

  6. coriander seeds and red chillies lightly and grind to a fine paste.

  7. Fry the paste in oil. Add salt to taste and enough water to make a gravy.

  8. When oil separates from the masala, add the dal cubes and cook on a low flame.

  9. Garnish with coriander leaves.
