Uthappam - This Indian bread is also known as Indian Pizza or Indian Pancake. Uthappam are made of rice and lentils, mixed with filling ingredients and are made thick. Uthapam are served with chutney.

Ingredients

  • Rice 120 gm
  • Pigeon peas (Urad daal) 60 gm
  • Small onions 2
  • Green chillies 2
  • Ginger 1/2“ piece
  • Coriander leaves 1/2 bunch
  • Salt to taste

Cooking Directions

  1. Soak lentils and rice separately overnight.

  2. Strain and grind them to a fine paste separately.

  3. Now mix the two batters together.

  4. Allow to ferment for about 6-8 hours.

  5. Add finely chopped onions, green chillies, ginger, coriander leaves and salt to taste.

  6. Make small and thick pancakes. Serve with coconut chutney.
