Tandoori chicken is a popular dish amongst Asian countries consisting of roasted chicken prepared with yogurt and spices. It is traditionally cooked at high temperatures in a tandoor but manually we can bake or grill it. Its fiery red color is quite attractive.

  • Chicken ½ kg
  • Yogurt 1 cup
  • Lemon juice 2 tbsp
  • Red chilli powder 1 tbsp
  • Garam masala powder 1 tbsp
  • Cumin powder 1 tsp
  • Turmeric ½ tsp
  • Red food color ¼ tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil 2 tbsp

Cooking Directions

  1. Prepare a marinade by combining lemon juice, salt, turmeric, red chilli powder, cumin powder, garam masala, oil, yogurt and food color.

  2. Coat the chicken pieces and prick with a folk.

  3. Heat a piece of coal on flame till red hot, keep on foil and place over chicken pieces.

  4. Pour a drop of oil and cover, so that coal gives barbecue fragrance, keep this mixture for ½ hour.

  5. Bake the marinated chicken in the oven tray at 180 degrees.

  6. When the chicken becomes golden brown, take it out of the oven.

  7. Garnish with tomato, cucumber and lemon.

  8. Serve with chutney.
