  • Split beans 100 grams
  • Red lentils 250 grams
  • Spinach 1 bunch
  • Curry leaves 3-4
  • Red chili whole 4-5
  • Green chilies 5-6
  • Tamarind paste ½ cup
  • Turmeric powder 1 tsp
  • Mustard seeds 1 tsp
  • Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • Red chili powder 1 tbsp
  • Ginger garlic paste 1 tbsp
  • All spice powder 1 tbsp
  • Butter 4 tbsp
  • Oil 4 tbsp
  • Salt to taste

Cooking Directions

  1. Clean and wash split beans and red lentils.

  2. In a pan add both the varieties of lentils, red chili powder, all spice powder, salt to taste, turmeric powder, ginger garlic paste and a sufficient amount of water.

  3. Cook until just about done.

  4. In a pan heat butter and add bunch of spinach.

  5. Sauté well mix all the lentils and cook for 20-25 minutes.

  6. Grind manually and add whole green chili and tamarind paste.

  7. Cover the lid and simmer for 5 minutes.

  8. Turn the flame off and dish out.

  9. For the bhagar take a pan heat oil and butter.

  10. Add red whole chili, mustard seeds, cumin seeds and curry leaves. Pour the bhagar over the lentils. Daal palak is ready to serve.
