This tasty tomato based recipe by Shireen Anwar is very popular vegetarian dish. If you want to make a chicken jalfrezi simply add meat!

Ingredients

  • Onion 1 sliced
  • Tomato 1 cut into strips
  • Garlic paste 1 tsp
  • Ginger 1 tbsp cut into strips
  • Carrot 2 cut into thin fingers
  • Peas 1 cup boiled
  • Capsicum 1 cut into thing fingers
  • Green Chilies 3 cut into strips
  • Mushrooms 4 halves
  • Corn Flour 1 tbsp
  • Baby corn 1 tin
  • Sugar 1 tsp
  • Ketchup 2 tbsp
  • D P sauce 1 tsp
  • Vinegar 1 tsp
  • Mustard powder 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric pinch
  • Black pepper powder 1/4 tsp
  • Chilli powder 1/2 tsp
  • Salt 1 tsp
  • Oil 1/4 cup

Cooking Directions

  1. Heat the oil and add onion and garlic paste. Cook the onion until soft.

  2. Add ginger sticks and mix.

  3. Then take pan off heat and add sugar, ketchup, DP sauce, vinegar, mustard powder, black pepper powder, turmeric, red chilli powder salt, 4 tbsp of water, mix and replace on medium flame.

  4. Add in carrots and sauté.

  5. Then add capsicums, peas, baby corn, mushroom, tomatoes, green chillies and half cup of water and cook until water boiled.

  6. In a bowl mix together corn flour and a little water to make a paste.

  7. Add a little of the corn flour at a time until the gravy thickens.

  8. Serve with boiled rice.
