Chicken Jalfrezi is mild hot chicken curry richly flavored with capsicum and onion. Chicken Jalfrezi tastes best with steamed rice, but you can also serve it with chapatti.

  • Boneless chicken ½ kg (cut into 1 inch cubes)
  • Capsicum 1 (cut into small squares)
  • Onion 1 (cut into small squares)
  • Egg 1
  • Tomatoes 2 (chopped)
  • Green chilies 4 (chopped)
  • Oil ½ cup
  • Garlic paste 1 tsp
  • Red chili powder 1 tsp
  • Salt 1 tsp
  • Chili sauce 2 tsp
  • Ketchup 2 tsp
  • Black pepper ½ tsp (crushed)
  • Coriander leaves 2 tbsp (chopped)

Cooking Directions

  1. Marinate chicken cubes with salt, chili powder, black pepper, chili sauce and ketchup for 30 minutes.

  2. Heat oil in a wok.

  3. Fry garlic paste with tomatoes for 5 minutes.

  4. Add marinated chicken, cook till chicken is done and oil starts to float.

  5. In a frying pan heat oil, fry cubed capsicum and onion for 2 minutes till soft.

  6. Beat eggs with a pinch of salt and pepper, fry and slice in cubes.

  7. Add fried capsicum, onion and omelet cubes to cooked chicken.

  8. Garnish with chopped coriander and green chilies.

  9. Serve hot.

  1. This recipe turned out to be delicious. I tried it today. Everytime I need a recipe, i look up Sheerin Anwer. Her recipies are simplest and yummiest. Recipe said chllu sauce and 1 teasp chilli powder and i thought it would make it really spicy so i just added half tea spoon black pepper and half teasp red chilli powder. And it was according to our taste.

  5. MEHRIN'S MOM, you need to add chicken stock at the end when its ready, adjust salt and pepper according to taste then add corn flour paste to thick the gravy.

  12. This turned out really good, you can add a bit more ketchup if you want. I didn't add the egg because I don't think the flavors will work together.
