Ingredients

  • Fish 1 large
  • Onions 1 1/2 lb
  • Dry red chilies 6
  • Cloves garlic 10-12
  • Ginger 1 large piece
  • Vinegar 1/2 pint
  • Cumin seeds 1/2 tbsp
  • Ghee 3 tbsp
  • Cinnamon 1 piece
  • Sugar 1 oz
  • Garam masala 1 tsp
  • Green chilies 6
  • Salt to taste

Cooking Directions

  1. Cut the fish into neat pieces of the required size.

  2. Rub with salt and leave for 10 minutes, then wash a second time. Chop the onions.

  3. Grind the red chilies, garlic, onions, and ginger and cumin seeds with a little vinegar to a fine paste.

  4. Melt ghee in a saucepan and fry the ground spices in it for a few minutes.

  5. Add the cinnamon and fish. Add salt and fry for 5 minutes on a high flame.

  6. Then lower heat and simmer until nearly done.

  7. Add vinegar, sugar, green chilies and garam masala and cook uncovered until the gravy thickens.

  8. Do not use any water while cooking.
