  • Masoor ki daal 1 ½ cups
  • Bottle gourds 1 kg
  • Tamarind juice 1 cup
  • Oil 1 cup
  • Tomatoes 3 sliced
  • Green chilies 5
  • Few curry leaves 2 - 3 stems
  • Turmeric powder 1 tsp
  • Ground cinnamon 1 tsp
  • Red chili powder 1 tbsp
  • Ginger garlic paste 1 tbsp
  • Salt to taste

Cooking Directions

  1. Soak cups masoor ki daal and allow boiling.

  2. Blend lentil in a blender when they are tender.

  3. In a cooking pot, heat oil and add ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder and red chili powder and stir together.

  4. Then add chopped tomatoes.

  5. When tomatoes are dry, add bottle gourds and green chilies.

  6. Also add lentils and some water and allow cooking until bottle gourds are tender.

  7. Then add few curry leaves and tamarind juice and cook for another 5 minutes.

  8. Now add ground cinnamon and allow simmering on low flame.

  9. Delicious Khatta Loki ka Dalcha is ready to serve with plain rice.
