Blend the parboiled rice to coarse paste and soak in water for 10 minutes. Soak split black gram in water for 1 gour and blend to make a fluffy paste.

Ingredients

  • Parboiled rice 350 gm
  • Black gram, Split 150 gm
  • Salt to taste
  • Groundnut oil to grease idli moulds

Cooking Directions

  1. Blend the parboiled rice to coarse paste and soak in water for 10 minutes.

  2. Soak split black gram in water for 1 gour and blend to make a fluffy paste.

  3. Drain out excess water from the rice paste and mix into a the gram paste along with salt.

  4. Set aside for 6 hours in a warm place.

  5. Grease idli moulds with groundnut oil and pour equal quantities of the rice mixture into the moulds.

  6. Steam in a steamer or a pressure cooker for 8-10 minutes.

  7. Remove the idlis from the idli moulds and serve hot, accompanied by Sambhar and Sesame seed and tomato chutney.
