Do you love store brought homemade Cheez-Its? Try this easy and quick version of homemade Cheez-Its, they are awesome in taste just like store made. They are best eaten right away and can make dozens of crackers with this recipe.

  • Cheddar cheese 8oz (shredded)
  • Salt 1 tsp
  • Butter unsalted 4 tbsp (softened)
  • All purpose flour 1 cup
  • Ice water as required

Cooking Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180 degree C. and line baking sheets with parchment paper.

  2. In a bowl mix cheddar cheese, ½ tsp salt and the softened butter.

  3. Add gradually all purpose flour and mix until dough forms like little fluffy clumps.

  4. While mixing adds ice water and mix until a soft dough forms.

  5. Divide the dough into 2 portions and form into a disk shape and wrap in plastic. Keep in refrigerate the dough for about 30 minutes.

  6. Roll the dough on floured surface into about 1/8 inches thick. Cut the dough into 1 inch squares with help of pastry cutter.

  7. Shift cheez-its onto the parchment paper, using a toothpick make a hole in the center of each square then sprinkle rest of the salt on top.

  8. Bake for about 7 - 10 minutes or until they have puffed up and the edges begin to brown. Let cool before eating.

  9. Note: You can store them in an airtight container.
