  • Potato 1 large (can be substituted with sweet potato)
    Small onion 1 small (finely chopped)
    Garlic 1/2 tbsp (minced)
    Ginger 1/2 tbsp (minced)
    Red chile powder 1/4 tsp
    Coriander powder 1/ tsp
    Cumin seeds 1/4 tsp
    Garam masala 1/4 tsp
    Turmeric Powder 1/4 tsp
    Cilantro 1 tbsp (chopped)
    Mango powder 1/8 tsp (Alternative 1/2 tsp lime juice)
    Vegetable oil 1 tbsp
    Puff pastry 2 sheets (thawed for 30 minutes)
    Lollipop sticks 20 (six inch sticks, you can find a oven safe brand)
    Egg 1
    Milk 1 tbsp


  • 1- Preheat oven to 400F degrees.

  • 2- Cook the potato in microwave oven by wrapping into a paper towel for about 4 minutes or it is cooked through.

  • 3- Peel the skin once it is cook and lightly mash it. (Alternatively you can peel and boil till it becomes tender).

  • 4- Now heat the oil in a medium sized sauce pan.

  • 5-Then add cumin seeds and fry them till they start to sizzle. Then add chopped onion and cook till they are lightly browned on medium heat.

  • 6- After that, add garlic and ginger and cook for 1 minute. Now add chili, turmeric, coriander, garam masala and mango powder and stir it for 30 seconds and take it off the stove.

  • 7- Now mix well the mashed potato, salt and cilantro and adjust salt and seasonings.

  • 8- On work top, layout the puff pastry. Cut the pastry sheets into 2inch squares using a sharp knife. You will have about 40 squares.

  • 9- Now press a lollipop stick into center of 20 squares.

  • 10- Now mound 1 tsp of sweet potato filing on top of each square with lollipop sticks but don't over fill.

  • 11- Now cover these 20 squares of puff pastry and stretch them gently a little so they fit over filling mounds. Seal the edges using tines of a small fork by pressing on edges.

  • 12- You can lay samosa pops on a backing sheet (lined with parchment paper).

  • 13- Whisk milk and egg together and brush this over the samosas.

  • 14- Bake samosa pops in the preheated oven for 15 minutes or till puff pastry turns golden. Serve and Enjoy!
