Turmeric or 'haldi' is an essential ingredient of sub-continent Cuisine. It has been used here for centuries to heal wounds and treat infections. Turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties, and is an excellent antiseptic. In addition, it is great for the skin. In fact, it helps improve cells' resistance to infections and imparts strength to the human body to fight imbalances.

Face-Wash for all Skins

Make a paste of honey and yogurt, adding a little turmeric. Apply on the face and wash it off after 15 to 20 minutes.

Scrub for Dry Skin

Add dried bread crumbs and a pinch of turmeric in milk or cream. Apply it on the face. After passing 10 minutes, moisten with milk and rub gently on the skin, rinising it off with water.

Oily Skin Treatment

Apply curd mixed with a little turmeric on the entire face, and wash it off with plenty of water after twenty minutes. Use it once a day.

Acne Control

Make a paste of turmeric powder in mint juice, keep it face for 30 minutes and then wash with lukewarm water. It helps to control acne.

For Stretch Marks

A worth remedy to remove stretch marks. Extracts of turmeric have proved useful in lightening stretch marks. Turmeric, saffron and lemon juice are used to remove blemishes and rectify imbalances.

For Dark Armpits

Turmeric is considered excellent for dark armpits. For this combine besan (gram flour), curd, lemon juice and a little turmeric and apply at least three times a week under the arms. Wash it off after half an hour. You will definitely get a perfect result.

For Fair Complexion

Applying turmeric powder with sandalwood is a traditional fairness secret, make a paste and apply daily on the facial area for best results. Washed off with cold water once it dries.

For Freckles

Freckles impact face beauty badly. To remove, apply lemon juice and turmeric mixture to lighten freckles.

For Hair Removal

Mix turmeric and wheat flour in equal quantities and make a paste with sesame oil. Use this mixture for hair removal purpose.
