Curd is the key ingredient for cooking all meat dishes. Let us make homemade curd, it will be in budget and far more fresh and hygienic.

  • Significance

  • Curd is full of calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, protein and other nutrients. Thus, we must include 1 cup of curd in our daily diet. Curd also control shypertension.Curd is a dairy product as all dairy products rich in carbohydrates this is also rich in carbohydrates.One of the main health benefits of yogurt is it promotes better digestion of food and is quite essential for our health and bones.

  • Step By Step Procedure

  • Homemade yogurt is so simple to make that you’ll wonder why you haven’t made it before. Try this recipe and you will agree that homemade yogurt has a delicious flavor .And of course! not to mention how much cheaper it is to make versus buying.

  • Ingredients:
    Milk 1 kg
    Yogurt 1 tbsp (starter yogurt)

  • Method:
    1. Bring the milk to boil and then keep aside for cooling.

    2. When the milk is lukewarm (you can dip your finger tip to check the temperature), add a heaped tablespoon of yogurt.

    3. Mix vigorously with a hand whisk until it is foamy.

    4. Cover the container or pot and place in the warmest place of your kitchen.
    or preheat oven to 180 degrees F and switch oven OFF.
    5. After 3– 4 hours remove the container and refrigerate.
    6. Fresh yogurt / curd is ready.

  • Tips:
    1. Starter yogurt can be a small single serving plain yogurt from the grocery store.
    2. Do not add yogurt into hot milk or yogurt bacteria will die and yogurt will not set.
    3. If you prefer sour card keep the yogurt out for 5-6 hours. The longer you keep it, the more sour it becomes.
    4. For sweet curd you can add sugar initially while boiling milk.
