  • If you follow the steps carefully it will hard to go wrong.

  • Planting Coriander

  • • You can grow coriander straight into your garden on into a pot.

  • • Make sure you plant in a permanent place as coriander does not like to be moved.

  • • Make sure your compost is from weeds & add manure or organic compost, making sure it is well raked.

  • • Plants seeds 1cm deep and 4cm apart.

  • • Seeds will take around 14days to germinate.

  • Planting Conditions

  • • If you’re in cooler climates of the world then wait until May to plant your seeds, to ensure warm soil temperatures will help in successful germination.

  • • In August sow a few more coriander seeds in your window sill pots so that you can have a supply during autumn and winter.

  • • Coriander can be grown alongside other plants.

  • • Coriander is very quick to flower and set seed, so it’s best to so just a little and frequently.

  • • If your coriander starts to produce fine feathery leaves, this is a sign the plants are about to flower.

  • • Make sure the soil is well-drained, in a sunny spot. If you decide to grow on your window sill make sure you give it plenty of light and don’t over water.

  • Harvesting

  • • Once the plant reaches 10cm start harvesting.

  • • Regularly pick matured leaves so that it delays flowering and encourages further growth.

  • • Once the plant flowers, allow them to set seed, when the seed ripens it will stop smelling unpleasant.

  • • Collect seeds and use it in cooking or for future planting.

  • Tip

  • • Once you have picked coriander, without washing, wrap in newspaper and place in a plastic container and refrigerate. This will delay in coriander rotting.
